Lanercost Cricket Club to host Lydia Greenway junior masterclass ahead of Voneus Village Cup.
11th April 202330 time Voneus Village Cup entrants Lanercost Cricket Club kick off this year’s road to Lord’s when they take on Daisy Hill Cricket Club at home on 23rd April in the first round of this years’ Voneus Village Cup.
To celebrate the club’s dedication to grassroots cricket Voneus ambassador and former England international Lydia Greenway will be hosting a junior masterclass session ahead of Lanercost’s first-round Village Cup match against Daisy Hill from 10am-12pm, Sunday, 23rd April.
The community focused club has just celebrated its 75th anniversary led by Chairman Mike Mitchelson who has been leading the club for over 50 years first as Secretary and latterly as Chairman, following in his father’s footsteps after founding the club in 1947.
Lanercost has over 60 junior members playing in 5 junior teams with budding stars starting at the club from age 5. All of Lanercost’s 2022 Eden Valley Cricket League Championship winning first men’s team have grown and developed in their sport through the club’s junior programme. Lanercost also currently has 18 women and girl members playing cricket.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone at Lanercost having heard some great things about the club. I know they have a thriving junior section and I can’t wait to link up with these young players and hopefully play a part in inspiring them as they begin their cricketing journeys.”

There has been a buzz around the local community since Voneus got in touch about shining a spotlight on our first-round fixture. We hope to have a good crowd and any funds raised on the day will make a huge difference to a rural cricket club like us.”
