A great day at Fishguard Show 2026: Connecting with the Fishguard community

There are few better places to experience rural Pembrokeshire than Fishguard Show, and this year, the Voneus team was delighted to be part of it.

Held on Friday 7 August at Cefn y Dre Fields, the 167th Fishguard Agricultural Show brought together people from across Fishguard, North Pembrokeshire and the surrounding communities for a packed day celebrating local farming and rural life.

For Voneus, it was also a brilliant opportunity to get out into the community, meet local people and have some genuinely useful conversations about broadband in Fishguard and rural Pembrokeshire.

A proper Pembrokeshire day out

Fishguard Show is described by its organisers as the largest one-day traditional agricultural show in Pembrokeshire, and it certainly had plenty going on.

Across the nearly 30-acre showground, visitors could see everything from cattle, lambs and pigs to Welsh ponies, show jumping and vintage machinery.

Add in the local food, coffee, trade stands and hundreds of conversations happening around the showground, and it was exactly the sort of community event we love being involved with.

And yes – plenty of coffee was required.

Talking broadband with people in Fishguard

Our stand gave people the chance to stop by, meet the Voneus team and ask questions about their broadband.

Some wanted to know whether Voneus was available at their property. Others wanted to understand their options or have a chat about their current connection.

We were also able to speak with existing customers, help with a few questions and issues, and arrange follow-ups for people who wanted to find out more.

Those conversations are particularly important in rural areas.

Broadband availability can vary from one property to another, even within the same village or postcode area, so being able to talk directly to somebody who understands the local network can make things much simpler.

Why rural broadband matters in Pembrokeshire

Living somewhere as beautiful as Pembrokeshire shouldn’t mean having to compromise when it comes to being connected.

For us, attending Fishguard Show was another opportunity to be present in the community rather than simply talking to people from behind a screen.

One of the best things about attending events like Fishguard Show is hearing directly from the people who live in the area.

It helps us understand what matters locally, answer questions face-to-face and make sure people know what broadband options may be available to them.

We had plenty of conversations throughout the day, generated many follow-ups and even welcomed some new Voneus customers.
