Superfast Broadband business Voneus has hailed the impact of a food firm which battered the opposition at a recent awards ceremony.

Steve Leighton, CEO of Voneus Broadband, handed over the New Business of the Year award to The Cotswold Chippy at the recent Fairford & Lechlade Business Club awards.

Voneus sponsored the New Business of the Year category and in a strong field which featured 15 entries, The Cotswold Chippy earned first ‘plaice’ for its mobile operation which has brought fish and chips to rural communities in the Cotswolds.

Steve is no stranger to bringing services to the rural community – Voneus aims to bring high-speed internet connections to homes and businesses in rural locations which are currently poorly served.  He said:

“It was great to see such a range of innovative and exciting new businesses vying for the award we sponsored.”

The category was open to new ventures which have started up in the past two years, and they had to demonstrate how they had progressed from an idea on paper to a flourishing business.

Steve added:

“It was a highly contested award, but The Cotswold Chippy was a unanimous winner among the judges.  The idea has been well executed with a great brand, vehicle livery and, most importantly, good quality, tasty food delivered to local villages on a regular basis.”

The Cotswold Chippy is a family-run operation launched by husband and wife Darren and Lisa Weeks.  Their traditional mobile fish and chip van visits areas such as Fairford, Down Ampney, Northleach and Bibury on a regular basis, whilst also attending festivals and other events in the area.

Voneus Broadband uses advanced wireless and fibre technology to help connect thousands of homes and businesses in rural areas with Superfast and Ultrafast broadband.
